Dr Samantha Smith, GSR's head of sustainability and external relations, took part in the JPI Oceans 'MiningImpact' stakeholder information day on 21 January 2021 - part of GSR's ongoing commitment to engage openly and transparently with stakeholders. MiningImpact brings together scientists from 28 European institutes and the German exploration contract holder, BGR, who are independently monitoring trials, to help understand the environmental effects of collecting mineral resources from the seafloor. Attendees also heard from Matthias Haeckel of GEOMAR and Annemiek Vink of BGR.
