Collaborative scientific research is needed: In March 2018, GSR, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), UCSD (University of California - San Diego), ISA (International Seabed Authority) and USGS (US Geological Survey) collaborated on a joint expedition from San Diego, USA. The purpose of the mission was to calibrate existing theoretical hydrodynamic models on plume formation of return water from a future mining vessel. GSR has been working together with the most renowned scientific institutes for many years to show that seabed mining can be done responsibly.
